HICKORY, N.C. (AP) -- One man is dead and two people injured after a shooting at a Hickory shopping center involving a police officer.
Police identified the dead man as Paul Vang of Conover. Police said they believe Vang shot his wife, 37-year-old Sandy Vang, and the man with her, 27-year-old Xao Vue.
The shootings occurred late Wednesday.
Capt. Clyde Deal said police are investigating the possibility that Vang killed himself in addition to the possibility that an officer shot him.
Police said Vang fired shots in the direction of Officer Jonathan Barnes and that Barnes also fired.
Barnes, who wasn't injured, was placed on administrative leave with pay, which department policy. The State Bureau of Investigation is also looking into the shooting.

Why does something have to happen to someone when they are young to be the cause of them doing something wrong when they are older? If more people to responsibility for their actions we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today. Everytime you turn around someone is being set free or only reprimanded lightly because something happened in their past. It can't be because they made the decision on their own anymore, can it?
