LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A flipped truck caused a headache and heavy traffic this afternoon for drivers heading toward Wilmington from Brunswick County.

The truck lost control in the rain on US 17 North near Alligator Creek in Leland. It slid into a tree where it rolled over. The driver of the truck was not hurt. There’s no word yet on whether he’ll face any charges.

Traffic returned to normal after a couple hours.

Hwy 17 in Brunswick County takes a hit almost every day on traffic backups, does this county not employ an emergency management person? If so and that person cannot dispatch a couple deputy’s to direct traffic and keeping it at least moving then how in the world are they gonna handle a real emergency?

  • who cares says:

Why put a cop on the side of the road to slow traffic even more…? Is traffic flowing? yes. end story. The road is way to busy to have a cop standing in the middle of all that traffic putting his self in danger with people that cant drive in this state..
