SNEADS FERRY, NC (WWAY) — Mama J’s Helping Hand in Sneads Ferry offers a "hand up not a hand out."
Jeanette Lopez, known as "Mama J," started the organization to help people in the community get the things they need to lead a normal life.
Mama J’s provides food, clothes, household goods, and other necessities to people in the area who need it most.
Besides the basics, Mama J’s offers support groups to help those suffering with military-related stress and PTSD, and groups to help victims of domestic violence.
Mama J stopped by Good Morning Carolina to talk more about her organization, and how people in the community can help her cause.
