NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a big cook-off this weekend at Carolina Beach. There won’t be any chili, though, making it a celebration like no other.
The Chamber puts on the annual Pleasure Island Chowder Cook-off every year to celebrate chowder, and this year marks its 17th year.
Chefs from restaurants all the way from Wilmington to the coastal stretch of Pleasure Island are serving up the area’s best chowder, and you get to decide who will earn this year’s bragging rightts.
Pleasure Island’s Chowder Cook-off won’t just feature the tastiest chowder around either. The event features live music all day long, games for the kids, face painting, inflatables and even funnel cakes.
The big Cook-off will kick off Saturday at Carolina Beach Lake Park, with music and sampling from noon until 5 p.m.
Mike Worley, with the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, stopped by Good Morning Carolina to talk about what the community can expect.
