GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) – The father of a 3-month-old boy found dead inside his family’s van is facing an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Greensboro police say 31-year-old Jose Stanlin Fichack turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He is free on a $50,000 bond. Attorney Robert O’Hale told the News & Record of Greensboro that it was a tragic accident and that the parents are forever devastated by it.
O’Hale said that on the day of the child’s death, the baby went with the father while the mother took the older son to a school event. The attorney said both parents and the wife’s brother work at the same business, and when all three arrived the day of the child’s death, they noticed he was missing.
