WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fashion has always been a passion for one high school senior, who is now taking her love for clothes to help benefit women in need.

Alicia McDonald is a senior at Hoggard High School and is currently working on her senior project. She says she has always loved fashion and putting together outfits. Next week she will be hosting a benefit called fashion forward which will benefit Dress for Success. The charity provides professional attire for women looking for a job.

“It basically helps women get back on their feet after any sort of traumatic event that might have happened, and it helps them get professional attire, haircuts, resumé building, anything that they can get back on their feet and find a job,” McDonald said.

This past summer she traveled to New York for buying and styling classes and says it was then she realized she wanted to do this as her senior project.

Alicia’s fashion forward event is Wednesday at the Terraces on Sir Tyler. Tickets are $15. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Dress for Success.
