BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man accused of rape, kidnapping, and assault was out on bond when investigators say he again committed those crimes and more.

He got out of jail when a judge decreased his bond from $1 million to $50,000 plus GPS monitoring.

Richard Teremaine Gore is back in jail. This time under a $4 million bond

Records show Gore damaged the straps for his GPS tracking device Monday. Investigators say he kidnapped a woman from a home in Little River, SC, either Sunday night or Monday morning by gunpoint and raped and assaulted her at his home in Ash. According to warrants it’s the same woman Gore allegedly kidnapped and rape earlier this year.

Warrants show deputies responded to Gore’s home on Marlow Road Monday for reports of a kidnapping. They say Gore tried to get away in his Jeep by speeding down Etheridge Road and Ash-Little River Road. Investigators say at some point Gore hit a deputy’s car causing more than $1,000 in damage.

This all comes after Judge Sherry Prince reduced Gore’s bond in October from $1 million to $50,000 with a tracking device. He left jail three days later. Now he faces charges of rape, kidnapping, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon on a government among many others.

We tried to reach Judge Prince to ask her about her decision to reduce Gore’s bond. She has not returned our messages.

On Fri, 04/24/2009 – 6:29pm, WWAY posted that her name used to be Sherry “Prince” and now (at that time) it’s Sherry “Tyler”. Has she changed it back to “Prince” again or what?

  • Guest2020 says:

I wonder where the District Attorney stood on this matter. If he didn’t oppose the reduction, then he is just as much to blame as the judge. What I don’t understand is how an idiot like Sherry Prince got to be a judge in the first place.

  • Rusty says:

And people say our police officers are bad? No wonder they might be tempted when things like this happen. (Not to say they are.) So what now; he gets a 2 Million dollar bond and reduced to “oh just go outside until your court date”?

  • haggler says:

The next WWAY story will be about how the Judges’ Benevolent Society or the Judges’ Union or the Judges’ Investigatory Board finds no wrongdoing by the judge (surprise!), and WWAY will drop the matter. Forget about the victim’s agony, forget about the judge’s stupidity, forget about Gore’s sociopathic behavior.

I certainly hope that the lawyer who fought so hard to get this animal’s bond reduced is proud of himself.

  • 3293 says:

Should make a law to hold judges accountable for allowing these thugs to return to society. Sure hope the current judge has the ability to make better judgement. I mean, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that he doesn’t belong on the streets.

  • guestPopeArt says:

He is just another one of my soldiers on the War on Women! Glad we got the judge to go lightly on this guy! FREEDOM!!!

  • anne says:

What was the judge thinking – oh yeah, she wasn’t. Now look what he has done again!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on judge – explain your reasoning. Maybe this time you can take him home with you and watch over him until court time!

  • Guest2020 says:

She is listed on the website for the Adminstrative Office of the Courts as Sherry D. Prince. She is listed on the directory for the NC Bar as Sherry Dew Prince.

  • Guest2020 says:

That woman is incapable of reasoning.

  • SurfCityTom says:

and frightening. Given the seriousness of the charges, how could any judge reduce bail from $1,000,000 to a pittance?

Where was the DA during the bond review hearing? Folks need to remember cases like this when the next election comes around.

Were he not an attorney, I would think the accused’s attorney must feel horrible over this. But, he or she is an attorney.

Now, get ready for the lawsuits.

  • crystal h says:

He should have never been released!!!! How many times does it have to happen before they keep him and so many others! The last man got out and then shot and killed the woman at a bingo parlor!!!

  • george says:

What legal system? The only people afraid of the law are the law abiding citizens. The law has become a joke, cases like this make me lose respect for ou court system.Perehaps the attitude will change when a piece of donkey squese like this turnsup in a “judges” house in the middle of the night.I hope this idiot “judge” is able to experience the fear this woman did when this piece of trash, she thought was in jail, showed up.She deserved to be protected from this, instead her life has been destroyed.I am ashamed to be amember of this “civilized society”We apologise on behalf of our difunctional court system. What the he-l is wrong with us?

  • James Powers says:

This Judge is probably….a liberal bleeding heart Democrat.

  • CorrectNotPC says:

The Judge(Democrat) in this case of injustice is a former partner in the R.C. Soles, Jr. Law Firm.

  • MG says:

Do you think our brilliant justice system will now keep him off the streets? They never learn.

  • Danny Smith says:

If gun makers can be help liable because they make and sell guns, why can’t judges who lower or release individuals like this, lawyers who go and tell the courts what a fine person he is and how dependable and honest he is and how he was a victim when he was a child, can they not be liable for his actions. I know a hard working individual who pulled 30 days in Brunswick Co. jail for failing to require his son to wear a life saving devices on board his vessel while at the dock. He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis. Is this justice?

  • steve says:

    Can the victim sue her?

  • guestV says:

Testing-does wway only allow the blandest and biased comments for posting?

  • portcity says:

The great american justice system protecting and serving the citizens of its country. I guess this is what our founding fathers imagining when they wrote the Constitution. Why was this guy let out when in Virginia a wilmington firefighter on was held without bail until his court date. His case was drppped due to the woman basically making it all up. And there were witnesses backig up his story the whole time. There was no evidence and women changed story often. Im sure this suspecys record is as clean as firefighters and he serves his communty the same but thats still no reason for this man to get bail.

  • John P says:

She was appointed by Smiley and not voted in. We need to remember her name in future elections. Hopefully there will be a bipartisan effort to remove her. She needs to tighten up or drop out!
