WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Bigg Redd’s Barber Shop on the corner of 4th and Brunswick streets in downtown Wilmington is preserving their historic look and feel by adding a few extra touches to the shop.

It first opened back in 1955 as Harris Barber Shop, now almost 60 years later the shop needed an uplift.

It looks like Santa came a little early because Coastal Construction Company did all the needed renovations free of charge this past week. Now, Bigg Redd’s is paying it forward Saturday by offering free cuts to all children 12 and under.

Owner Ulrict Little said, “I’m very thankful. It’s truly a blessing and these guys have really made my Christmas this year.”

The shop kept a lot of the the original furniture as well as the barbershop chairs which are over 105 years old.

Next year will be their 60th year in business hoping one day to hit the 100 year milestone.
