WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Christmas Eve storms caused many issues on the roads but had little effects for air travelers.

Slick roads, floods visibility issues affected drivers like Chris Strickland.

“You could hardly see in front of you, but some cars thought they could,” Strickland said. “They were driving crazy. Water was standing as hard as the rain was coming down. It just didn’t have time to run off the highway like it should so I don’t think a lot of people respected that.”

Strickland was headed to Wilmington International Airport from Ocean Isle to pick up his daughter, Christian. It took him almost two hours to get there. Her flight, however, was on time but a little bumpy.

“It wasn’t raining in Tennessee, but then I started seeing the rain and it started getting really bumpy and I was like oh,” Christian Strickland said. “I mean I could tell this one lady beside me kept like looking like she was scared.”
