3 fires controlled at Camp Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE (AP) -- Marine Corps officials say three fires have burned more than 1,000 acres on training areas of Camp Lejeune.

Lejeune spokesman 1st Lt. Craig Thomas said Thursday the fires are contained away from public areas of the eastern North Carolina base.

Thomas said no one had been injured and no structures damaged. The cause of the fires was being investigated.
