July 4th celebrations have already kicked off in Oak Island. Wednesday, the town held it's annual Beach Day celebration.
The field-day like events included a dunk tank and skate competition. People of all ages came out to enjoy Oak Island's birthday bash.
“Beach Day is the anniversary of Oak Island, when Yaupon and Long Beach formed and today is the 10th anniversary, so today is very special,” said Christy Ferguson of Oak Island Park and Recreation.
Of course, people headed to the beach to celebrate and enjoy the weather.
Beach Day will continue Wednesday evening with a shag contest at 7:00 and fireworks at 9:00.
Both events will take place at Ocean Crest Pier.
