A Troubling Story

Try as we might to personally distance ourselves from the stories we read on the air, some cut through the emotional armor and grab us by the heart.

Down He Goes!

I fell off a ladder Sunday.
About a 12 foot plunge.
It’s amazing how many thoughts you can process in the time it takes to hit the ground.

Wash Your Hands!

I do think the skin on my hands is about to shrivel up and perhaps fall off.
I haven’t washed my hands this much since kindergarten.
Call it flu phobia.

Election 2009. Who Cares?

Election Day 2009 is just a little more than two weeks away.
Surprised?
After last year’s high profile barn burner of an affair, the election of 2009 is a relative yawner.

The Obit Page

I used to laugh at my Aunt Pat when she told me the first thing she looked at when our weekly hometown paper arrived in the mail was the obituaries.

Well Done, Mr. Carter

Friends of horace carter are gathering this evening... not at a funeral home... but at the offices of his newspaper in Tabor City.
It's only fitting.

Our Citizen Soldiers

THANK YOU SERGEANT KRAMER; FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY AND OUR COMMUNITY.

That Day In 1776

On this July 4th eve, Steve Rondinaro has given over his Rondo Words blog to an old friend with a long memory: You can watch here

Leave My Wallet Alone

Thank you Wilmington City Council and thank you New Hanover County Commission.
When confronted with financial shortfalls, they didn’t reach into my pocket.

The Play's the Thing

It was a delightful dilemma.
Let’s see… should we go see “Rent” or “A Little Night Music” or “The Merry Wives of Windsor” or

Fear?

Rabbi Harley Karz Wagman got me thinking last night.
That’s part of rabbi’s job… to get you thinking about things that matter… and he’s good at it.

All Things Italian

We have neat little event in the works.
It started as a discussion between Rondinaro and Paolicelli a few weeks ago..
That would be me and my boss, news director Paul Paolicelli.
