I was talking to colleagues recently about the Atlantic Hurricane Season. We were discussing how quickly the year has gone by. After all, August is here already!

Mid-January represents the "coldest" time of the year in southeastern North Carolina (climatologically speaking). Average daytime temperatures drop to about 55 degrees in Wilmington.

When Christmas time approaches, the last thing we want to talk about is hurricane season. To be sure, December hurricanes are rare- but not impossible. 1954's Hurricane Alice is a unique example.

This past November, we "took the show on the road". We visited a different elementary school each week, broadcasting our weather segments live on the air.
