Try as we might to personally distance ourselves from the stories we read on the air, some cut through the emotional armor and grab us by the heart.

I fell off a ladder Sunday.
About a 12 foot plunge.
It’s amazing how many thoughts you can process in the time it takes to hit the ground.

I do think the skin on my hands is about to shrivel up and perhaps fall off.
I haven’t washed my hands this much since kindergarten.
Call it flu phobia.

Election Day 2009 is just a little more than two weeks away.
Surprised?
After last year’s high profile barn burner of an affair, the election of 2009 is a relative yawner.

I used to laugh at my Aunt Pat when she told me the first thing she looked at when our weekly hometown paper arrived in the mail was the obituaries.

Friends of horace carter are gathering this evening... not at a funeral home... but at the offices of his newspaper in Tabor City.
It's only fitting.
