Flooding Kills!

Yes, you read that right...flooding is the #1 weather killer in this country. The main reason is because people underestimate the power and force of water. Here are some interesting facts:

** Six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and two feet can float your car.

** Nearly half of all flash flood fatalities are vehicle-related.

** The majority of victims are males.

** Flood deaths affect all age groups.

The key is to not drive through areas where you can't judge the depth of the water. If you reach a flowing stream wehere water covers the road, stop! The road bed may be washed out and you could become stranded. Also don't let children play around high water or storm drains.

The National Weather Service's logo is "Turn Around, Don't Drown" so try to remember that the next time we have flooding around here.
