CAA Honors UNCW's Ashley Tait

RICHMOND, Va. – UNC Wilmington junior women’s golfer Ashley Tait has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week, league officials announced Thursday.

“Ashley has been our most consistent player this fall and we are excited that she has been recognized for her play at the UNCG-Starmount Fall Classic,” said UNCW head coach Cindy Ho. “Her consistency and mental toughness in all types of circumstances has allowed her to be competitive in every tournament. She is extremely close to putting together three solid rounds and capturing the second individual title of her collegiate career.”

Tait finished tied for third with a three-round score of 221 (75-71-75=221) at the UNCG-Starmount Classic this week. The eight-over-par effort was just three strokes off the pace of the tournament medalist and was Tait’s second top-10 effort of the season. Tait also helped the Seahawks to a third-place finish at the event, the team’s best result of the season.
