Christmas may be over, but a package from home is always a welcome sight for troops serving overseas.

Soldiers in Afghanistan were happily surprised by the boxes stuffed with goodies such as candy, magazines and homemade cards. Some much needed toiletries were also appreciated.

SSG. Dale Race said, “Very nice to get packages from home, even from people you don't know. It's very nice to get packages home.”

WWAY, along with the Big Talker FM and Step Up for Soldiers, partnered up to send the packages over seas this year.

Approximately 1,100 packages have been sent to soldiers over the last two years.

How can I send a package to someone.....

Me and my family have been very blessed. We are not rich people but we do have what we need and most of what we want. I know there is soldiers men and women over there who dont have families to send those nice little care packages. If anyone knows how my sons and I can put together a few packages to send, please respond to this comment.Let us know how we can best serve our troops who serve us so eagerly. My sons are young and they learn from these experiences, they love to give. Lessons learned at an early age I hope stays with them for a lifetime.By the way, they are 11,7,and 6 and have the biggest hearts.Thank you!
