Election Day has come and gone, but the work is not over for Board of Elections officials in Columbus County. A number of municipal races in the county are still too close to call.

Philip Honeycutt got the most votes for Chadbourn Town Council. Billy Leonard and Rashad Roberts are within just one vote of each other for the second seat.

In Fair Bluff, Chris Scott leads Spruell Britt by just 2 votes in the mayoral race.

Also, Harry Foley trails Ivan Wilson in the race for Lake Waccamaw mayor by 10 votes.

Right now, the Board of Elections is busy validating the votes. Results will be certified this upcoming Tuesday.

Candidates will then have the opportunity to request a recount if they feel the election is too close to call. A recount is mandatory if the margin of victory is smaller than one percent of the total votes cast.
