RALEIGH (AP) -- Kay Yow had a reason to party last night, but she chose to let her players do the celebrating for her while she got some rest. The North Carolina State women's basketball coach earned her 700th career victory last night as the Wolfpack Women took a 68-51 victory over Florida State. Yow is the sixth Division One women's coach to reach the 700-win mark. She's spent 32 of her 36 seasons as the Wolfpack's coach, averaging 20 victories per season at NC State. Yow returned to the bench two weeks ago after two months away to fight breast cancer. NC State took a 41-19 halftime lead built on 50 percent field goal shooting and cruised through the second half, building a lead of 27 points with 11 minutes to play. Gillian Goring led the Wolfpack with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Khadijah Whittington added 14 points and Marquetta Dickens finished with 11. Britany Miller scored a game-high 22 points for Florida State. N.C. Headlines |
