What everyone should be
What everyone should be doing is looking at the overall picture. We live in one of the greatest places on this planet. Despite any communities' "issues" ... & those complaining about said issues- Bill Saffo ALONE is NOT responsible for every decision, vote and movement going on in Wilmington. I believe Bill Saffo is a GREAT representative for this City. He has done nothing but encourage citizens to become involved and share in all of these "opportunities". Just because He, or anyone else, has to pick sides with an already exsisting entity (perceived as good or bad)does not mean he/they created the entity themselves. No one is EVER going to make everyone happy all the time. So please stop finding fault and start finding ways to be constructive. Are you helping row the boat or just telling someone else "how to do it" from the sidelines??? Get involved. Be proud of Mr. Saffo for his efforts (as well as countless others) for trying to make a difference in our community and our future. Look at individuals for themselves and not attach the dissapointments from others onto all Public Officials. It's a 24/7/365 job that does not sleep. Being informed + being involved = a great contributor to Wilmington, my home!
Yes, Bill Saffo has been an effective mayor
Bill Saffo has great potential as Mayor of
Wilmington. The major issues he is facing
did not transpire overnight so they certainly will not be fixed overnight but whatever the problem is he actually listens to what people have to say and wants to find a good solution for everyone involved. I will definitely vote for him in the next election.
THE ELECTED INTELECTUALS IN THIS COMMUNITY, NOT NO BUT HELL NO!!
WILMINGTON HAS NOT HAD AN EFFECTIVE MAYOR SINCE
I HAVE BEEN KNOWLEDGABLE OF THIS TOWN FOR OVER 25 YEARS NOW. THE MOST POSSIBLE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT THE LOCALS HERE READ AND REFERR TO THE WILMINGTON STAR NEWS AS IT WERE A MISSING PART OF THE BIBLE UPDATED DAILY BY JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF WHICH THE FEW OF US THAT LIVE IN TEH AREA KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE BUT THOSE OF US WHO ARE AWARE THAT IT IS NOT BELEIVE THAT THE WAY IT IS WRITTEN TO FOOL THE PEOPLE WHO DO THINK CHRIST HAD A SAY IN IT WRITING IS A HOOT THE WAY THEY GO ABOUT IT.
THIS BEING WHERE THE BULK OF THE ELECTORATE GETS THEIR NEWS ANS NOT A MORE LITERARILY RESPECTED PAPER SUCH AS THE NEWS AND OBSERVER. I AGREE THAT AT TIMES ONE MUST READ BETWEEN THE LINES TO TRULY UNDERSTAND WHERE THE N & O IS COMMING FROM(NEW AND OBSERVER FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT KNOW THE DEFINITION OF N & O ).
IS THE PRIMARY REASON WE GET THE YAHOOS ELECTED THAT WE DO!!!
IF MORE PEOPLE IN THIS COMUNITY WOULD GET THEIR NEWS FROM OTHER SOURCES THAT THE WILMINGTON STAR NEWS, WHICH, IN MY OPPINION, IS WRITTEN BY A BUNCH OF 3RD GRADE DROP OUTS OR FOR THOSE WHO DID, GRADUATED FROM NEWSPAPER DELIVERY ROUT 101 ( THE COURSE NOT THE HIGHWAY MARKER) OR HOLD A LITERARIY DEGREE FROM A SKOOL ACREDIDTED SOWHERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRUNSWICK RIVER OR AT THE MINIMUM A SKOOL PROUDLY ACCREDITED BY RED NECK U.
mayor poll
Is it a coincidence or am I being conspiritorial in thinking your poll on the retention of Saffo was kept open until it reached 51% for re-election?.........
Billy Saffo
Show me one thing Saffo has done worthy of all this praise. It is all a rubber stamp. He is a puppet.
Sid Causey for Mayor!
NOBODY Running Currently is Qualified. Joke of the Month Club!!!
Give me a break. I dare all of you to pick up a real paper or try to obtain your news from a valid news organization!!!
I dare you then state your oppinions.
Keep Saffo
Bill Saffo is a hard-working young man and has done a good job filling the unexpired term of Mayor Spence Braodhurst. He deserves to be elected as Mayor of the City of Wilmington.
A life-long resident of our area, he attended New Hanover County Public Schools and graduated from UNCW. He's lived here, gone to school here, worked here and loves Wilmington.
I have known Bill Saffo for over 45 years. I will vote for him for Mayor and I encourage you to do the same!
I believe you and I am sure
I believe you and I am sure your kind words are true when it comes to him being a nice guy, but I think I would like to vote for some one who makes sound business decisions for the citizens of Wilmington. These are serious times and we need a serious leader. I could care less where he went to school and so should anyone else who casts a ballot on October 9th.
1. He proposes to spend $220,000 on a study to research salaries for fire fighters and other city employees. This study will take over 6 months to conduct. Brilliant example of an effective leader.
Besides the fact the study has already been conducted , It takes about 15 minutes on the internet to compile this information and about 5 more to print it off. In addition, the results are already common knowledge, particularly when it comes to fire fighters. They are underpaid.
2. He wants to spend $50 million on a convention center. This is certainly not the proper choice for an effective leader. If he understood the changing dynamics of the market place, he would realize that convention centers are a terrible investment for a city the size of Wilmington. They look good on paper and people can be fooled into thinking that they will be profitable for the city, but the facts tell a different story. I don't want to do the research for you but look at the new convention center in Baton Rouge LA for example. It has been a terrible investment for the city. Taxpayers paid millions for it and it is a complete and utter failure.
3. He wants to move forward with the creation of a water and sewer authority. Once again if you examine the benefit to the citizens of Wilmington it is a bad investment. As a citizen of Wilmington I would rather not turn control of our cities water and sewer assets to an entity that is not accountable to voters. This is madness. There are a lot of people including myself that work hard to make ends meet and the last thing we need is higher utility bills and declining capabilities that a water and sewer authority would bring. Once again, this is the historical track record of these types of agencies in similar sized cities.
These examples do not indicate the actions of an effective leader, nor do they demonstrate a track record of someone who deserves to be Mayor of Wilmington, but like I said I’m sure he is a nice guy.
you need to have your blinders removed
Boy has he got you snowed. you obviously spend too juch time reding the Hooty Toot Wilmington Star News and Distortion
Mayor Saffo
Billy Saffo is one of the hardest working mayors we've had. He's done an excellent job of continuing many of the initiatives started by Spence Broadhurst. He supports every community event and represents our city with pride.
He gets things done instead of complaining about what is wrong in our town. HIs excellent long term vision for our city is to be applauded.
Saffo Running for Mayor
1. Billy Saffo inherited the sewer mess. He did not cause it. He was hardly sworn in when he was confronted with the emergency. He is working day and night to fix it. If you want to 'git er done', he's the right man in the right place and at the right time to do it--he has the relationships with key officals in the Federal/State/Local levels, the know-how, respect, energy, and most importantly, the desire, love for the City and "fire in the belly" to fix this acute problem that has no simple, cheap overnight solution.
2. Billy is responsive. I hear over and over that when folks call, he calls back. He has a good heart.
3. Billy wants folks to get involved. He's pumped about the City and wants everyone to pitch in.
Bill Saffo works day and
Bill Saffo works day and night for Wilmington. He has vision and personality. We are lucky to have him.
Saffo Mayor
From what we have seen so far Saffo will only cater to the development community. When citizens benefit then it's only as a coincidence. From the pushing of the convention center to developments within the city and working with developers, he has shown where his loyalties lie, money.
If he is so concerned with the average citizen then why under his leadership taxes are going up when so much wasteful spending keeps going on. There have been several major points made online here in this forum, but the forum host chooses to edit out unfavorable comments.
If you Wanna Get Gaffo...
Then elect Bill Saffo.
Bill Saffo
Bill Saffo represents the best interests of all citizens of Wilmington. His leadership has aptly futhered long term goals initiated by Spence Broadhurst. Keep Wilmington going in the right direction.....Keep Saffo as Mayor!
Mayor Bill Saffo
As a native Wilmingtonian, Mayor Saffo is
strongly focused on the needs of all the citizens of this great city.
His devotion to Country, State, and City is
evident by his desire to continue working hard
to improve the quality of life for everyone
here in Wilmington.
With our beautiful city moving in the right
direction, Mayor Saffo's continued leadership is the catalyst to keep this postive momentum
going. Wilmington is stronger due to Mayor
Saffo's dedication, integrity, and commitment
to helping Wilmingon grow and prosper for
all our wonderful citizens.
Dr George Bakalis
I emailed city council once
I emailed city council once to suggest that the city plant more trees in the street medians.
I got a voicemail from Saffo himself the next day giving me information about how I could get involved with the city beautification committee. He asked me to call him personally if I had any other questions.
I don't know many other mayors that would do that.
Mayor Saffo
I think we need to have someone who is not scared to make a dission against the special intrest group. I would like to see Don Ragavage run for mayor, at least he would put the intrest of the citizens first and not his pockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dission...i don't think you
dission...i don't think you should be allowed to vote
You should have finished school.....
You should have finished school and then make a dission!!!
I AGREE
you hit the nail right on the head!
