Before last week's NASCAR race at Talledega the chair of the Homeland Security Committee advised staffers to get immunized against hepatitis A, hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria and influenza.
Rep. Bennie Thompson says the recommendation for the immunizations was made because staffers visit hospitals at nearby health-care facilities and are exploring health preparedness at large events.
North Carolina Congressman Robin Hayes reacted, saying NASCAR fans "don't pose any health hazard" to anyone.
