The trial is scheduled to start today for a man accused of killing a FBI employee nearly a decade ago. It took a six-year investigation and a man hunt that led federal agents to Louisiana in 2005, to finally bring Tyrone Delgado back to Wilmington to stand trial for the murder of Melissa Mooney. In August 1999 coworkers found Mooney strangled in her Castle Hayne home. Delgado lived in the same neighborhood. He is charged with burglary and first-degree murder. But this is not the first time Delgado has been on trial. In 2003 Delgado pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2000 death of a local teenager. That same year, a judge also found Delgado guilty of assault after a Castle Hayne store clerk said he attacked and threatened to rape her.
