Hewett indicted by federal grand jury

Charges against the former Brunswick County sheriff continue to add up.

Now, Ron Hewett has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

The US Attorney's Office launched its investigation last June.

Records were subpoenaed and several deputies, and the former sheriff, were called to testify in front of a federal grand jury in Raleigh.

After a nearly eleven month investigation, the federal grand jury has indicted Hewett on one felony count of obstruction of justice.

Hewett already faces embezzlement and obstruction of justice charges in Brunswick County.
