WILMINGTON-- "Kids Making It" is a wood working program that helps at-risk youth in Wilmington. Tyrell Brockington has been involved with the group for nine years.
"A lot of kids at early ages are starting to join gangs, getting in trouble and killing each other," Brockington says. "I think this is a good program to learn a couple of skills and move on."
Brockington says the club helped him find his creative niche.
The group makes a variety of wood items like pens, bowls and bottle stoppers. Youth are also allowed to sell their hand crafted work.
On July 19, students will hold a silent auction at Level 5 on Front Street for the Making Magic show. Tickets are available now at the Kids Making It office.
