If you were driving down Market Street early this morning, you probably passed the 2008 Torch Run.

More than 20 officers from the Wilmington Police Department and deputies from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department hit the streets for a good cause.

It was a 20 mile run to benefit the Special Olympics.

After the 20 mile mark, the torch was passed off to Pender County Corrections Officers.

Lt. Tom Witkowski of the Wilmington Police Department said, "It's an important event for everybody, it's good to get out get a little exercise and do something good for the community."

The Torch Run also pulled in more than $20,000 from all of the law enforcement agencies involved for the Special Olympics.
