Governor Easley says there's not enough water in the state -- period.

He warns that current drought conditions in North Carolina are worse now than this same time a year ago.

The latest drought map shows 14 western counties in exceptional drought. That's twice the number from last week.

Unless there is significant rainfall soon, the state could face a more serious situation than in 2007.

Right now 97 of the state's 100 counties are in some level of drought.

Our region is in a moderate drought.

water shortage

There is a bigger shortage of honest politicians in NC than water in NC. We need more rain and less Easley.

Drought?

But the golf courses are all so green!

Most golf courses...

use lake/pond water for irrigation, not metered water, such as the Muni course in ILM.

In a drought

.....condition where does the water to fill the ponds and lakes come from?

AHHHh

You guys haven't heard...the State is trying to push thru a law where the State of NC OWNS ALL WATER! Course if they do...they can start taking care of EVERY RETENTION POND in EVERY developement across the state! Golf course owners are fighting it right now as it would control water ON THEIR PROPERTY...
