Ocean Isle and Sunset Beaches are cracking down on firecrackers.
Yesterday we told you about what was legal to set off in North Carolina, like sparklers, but Sunset Beach police say, this year, even the legal stuff isn't allowed.
Deputy chief Steve Smith said, "It's just gotten more dangerous. It's just simply that. The beach is getting more housing. The winds there, the fire opportunity is just greater."
If you're caught, you can face hefty penalties at the state level, that could cost you up to five hundred dollars and the cost of court.
Smith also says the ground is very dry right now also making the risk for fire greater.
