Politicians gathered in Charlotte Tuesday to support Obama

Politicians from across the state gathered in Charlotte Tuesday to discuss their support for presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Eight mayors, including Durham's Bill Bell, Winston-Salem's Allen Joines, Asheville's Terry Bellamy and Greensboro's Yvonne Johnson, joined former Governor Jim Hunt for a news conference.

Fourty-seven North Carolina mayors, former mayors and mayors pro tem have endorsed Obama, including Lewis Brown, the former mayor of Navassa, and Jerry Merrick, Navassa's mayor pro tem.
