I am very happy to be here in Wilmington, a city with lots of weather, lots of water, great beaches and nice, friendly people. It is my kind of town.
My weather experience began early, I always had an interest in science and weather. While I was in school, an F5 tornado hit near my town. I had a chance to lead a video crew in and survey the damage. It was incredible! To think that weather could cause this drastic and extensive impact on people's homes and lives really made an impression on me.
I have been a meteorologist for over 15 years and I have professional seals from the AMS and NWA. My emphasis is on severe and tropical weather systems. Hurricanes are the giants of the weather world and I am always in awe of their immense size and power. In weather there is literally always something new to learn and I continue to study.
Prior to TV I began my career in radio where I was a DJ, program director, play-by-play sportscaster and even a General Manager of a small station. I also worked in video production and training. I have also done hundreds of voice-overs and some on camera commercials and videos.
I am the proud father of three sons, they are grown and also interested in the sciences. I love it when they come to visit. My favorite pastime is sailing, it's a great way to relax and enjoy the wind and the water. My sail boat is here and I get out whenever possible, whether it's a short sail or all day. I also enjoy basketball and working out.
I have seen a lot of our area and I am always looking to explore new places, so if you have a favorite beach, or sailing area, or "something you just gotta see," please let me know.
