Jerry Jackson is the meteorologist for Good Morning Carolina (Monday-Friday mornings starting at 6:00 AM). A member of the Storm Track 3 forecasting team since November of 1998, he is certified by the American Meteorological Society. Jerry also serves as a producer for weather documentaries presented by News Channel 3.

A native of the agricultural community of Mount Olive, North Carolina, Jerry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from North Carolina State University. While there, he successfully completed an independent study program in cooperation with the university in 1998, examining the dissemination techniques employed by forecasters in the Raleigh television market. His research efforts were rewarded with study credits from the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Jerry received the prestigious Television Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society in the summer of 2000 for maintaining a high standard of expertise in his weather presentations.

Jerry has also written and produced many severe weather documentaries for News Channel 3, including "Witch Hazel: The Storm of '5". This program presented a case study of Hurricane Hazel, the only landfalling Category 4 storm in North Carolina's history. "Witch Hazel" earned first place honors in the 2001 Associated Press Awards Competition. The State Library of North Carolina officially requested a copy of the program for placement into their archives. In addition, Jerry has produced documentary pieces on the Carolina Tornado Outbreak of 1984 and the deadly Rocky Point tornado of 2004. Jerry has also undertaken a few lighter projects. He produced and directed "A Christmas In White: The Snow of 1989". This show served as a fun look back to southeastern NC's biggest "White Christmas" on record. Filled with holiday music and viewer-submitted footage, "A Christmas In White" proved to be a magical journey into the history of the Cape Fear region. More recently, Jerry produced and directed "Flood and Fury: The Story of Hurricane Floyd". Released in June of 2004, this 1-Hour documentary served to recognize the 5-Year Anniversary of Hurricane Floyd, the costliest hurricane in North Carolina history. "Flood and Fury: The Story of Hurricane Floyd" won high praise from area viewers and earned special honors from the Associated Press.

Jerry provided continuous weather coverage along with the entire Storm Track 3 Weather Team during several major weather events, from Hurricane Floyd to Ophelia. He understands the importance of relaying important weather information to the public in a clear, understandable fashion. As a result, Jerry can often be seen in area schools, churches, and public institutions, explaining the complexities of southeastern North Carolina's changing weather. He has also served as honorary chairperson for many community charities, including local March of Dimes events. Jerry has worked closely with several youth organizations, serving as an outreach speaker for the Boy Scouts of America and the Future Farmers of America.

Jerry was married to wife Sharon in January of 2001 after seven years of dating. Both of them enjoy the diversity of cultures in North Carolina and hope to make a permanent home in this region.
