‘Triple D Nation’ filming planned at downtown Wilmington restaurant

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A production for the Food Network series “Triple D Nation” is scheduled to film at a downtown Wilmington restaurant this month.

According to a filming permit application submitted to the City of Wilmington, production is planned for Monday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Copper Penny, 109 Chestnut St.

The production is expected to take place both inside and outside the restaurant, although the permit application says most filming will take place indoors. One exterior shot of the restaurant’s sign is planned.

The production is expected to include two cast members, five crew members and 10 extras.

“Triple D Nation” follows host Guy Fieri as he returns to restaurants previously featured on his “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” series to see how they have changed.

The show revisits restaurants that may have opened new locations, expanded their businesses or added new and classic dishes to their menus.

The Wilmington production is being handled by Citizen Pictures.

According to the permit application, it is expected to be a small production with limited impact on the surrounding area. A few production vehicles will use paid parking spaces in the area, and no base camp or catering area is planned.
